Working conditions
The department is committed to providing remuneration and employment conditions that attract, develop and retain the best staff and ensure workplace safety. This is supported by a range of human resources policies and work arrangements, including:
Annual leave and long service leave
Annual leave accrues at the rate of 20 working days a year. You will be eligible to take long service leave after 10 years.
Long service leave accrues at the rate of 1.3 weeks a year and 1.5 weeks a year after 15 years. After seven years of continuous service, your accrued leave will be paid to you on termination of your employment.
Sick leave
Sick leave accrues at the rate of 12 days a year and is cumulative. Sick leave is not payable on termination.

Other leave entitlements such as carer's leave and benefits such as special leave are outlined in the department's policies and procedures.
Salary sacrifice (packaging)
Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
Flexible working arrangements
The department supports the practice of flexible working arrangements that allows employees of all levels to achieve a greater balance between their work and other responsibilities and interests. Voluntary flexible working arrangements are recognised as an important aspect of an employee's conditions and various family friendly arrangements are in place within the department.
